Billions to be Scrapped in Afghanistan

Now this is a killer for anyone into recycling, reuse and scrap metals. Talk about no control over our tax dollars, no fiscal responsibility.

We (the U.S. Government - that's supposed to be US) spent about $1 million each for MRAP vehicles - built to withstand mines and roadside bombings. Now 2,000 of these will be sold to SCRAP dealers in Afghanistan. You can read more about this here.

Well - at least the metals will be recovered. I'm reminded of the end of Viet Nam when untold numbers of helicopters and other equipment was just dumped into the sea.

Does any of this make sense to anyone?
